Cheshire under 13s county champion

Daniel Clarke wins at Halton to become Cheshire Champion.
Newly-formed Stockport Table Tennis Academy took a big step forward on Saturday when one of its founding junior members, Daniel Clarke, won the Cheshire Closed under thirteens event at the Halton Stadium.
Daniel didn't have the day go all his own way, first losing narrowly in the semi final of the under 15s age band to Kin Chang, one of the region's most promising junior players. But the 'tables were turned', when Daniel deafeated the same player in the final of the under 13s later in the day, coming through convincingly in three games straight, 11-1, 11-2, 11-3, dominating the match to claim the Cheshire 2011 title.
Stockport Table Tennis Academy's head coach, David Hulme, said: "after losing in his first match against Kin, Daniel changed tactics, frequently changing the pace, noticeably slowing the ball down and demonstrated a much improved shot selection. This led to fewer unforced errors on Daniel's part and put Kin under pressure to try to add pace to keep Daniel out. This was the deciding factor in the match today."
"Daniel is our first county champion and it comes just a few months after Stockport Table Tennis Club was first founded. I'm delighted with the result."
